Consider Approval of Items by Consent
(Consent items are deemed to need little Council deliberation and will be acted upon as on business item. Any member of the City Council may request that an item be withdrawn from the Consent Agenda and placed before the City Council for full discussion. Approval of the Consent Agenda authorizes the City Manager, or a designee, to implement each item in accordance with staff recommendation.) 1. Consider approval of the following City Council minutes: a) April 13, 2021 regular meeting 2. Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to renew the Intergovernmental Service Agreement with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for the continuation of providing services to the administrative detainees detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs and brought to the City of Bedford Detention Facility for temporary holding.
3. Proclamation declaring May, June, and July as Summer Reading Club Season in the City of Bedford. 4. Proclamation declaring the month of May as Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the City of Bedford. 5. Proclamation recognizing the week of May 11-17, 2021 as National Police Week and Saturday, May 15, 2021, as Peace Officers Memorial Day. 6. Proclamation recognizing the week of May 2-8, 2021, as National Correctional Officers Week.
City Manager/Staff Reports a) Discuss development of Library Greenspace, outdoor programming, and potential fundraising.
To convene in closed session in compliance with Section 551.001 et. Seq. Texas Government Code, to discuss the following: a) Pursuant to Section 551.072, to deliberate the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property – possible acquisition of real property for redevelopment purposes. b) Pursuant to Section 551.071, to conduct a private consultation with its attorney on any legally posted agenda item, when the City Council seeks the advice of its attorney about pending or contemplated litigation, a settlement offer, or on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with the provisions of Chapter 551: a. Application of the City Charter b. Vacancy in Place 4 of the City Council c. Regulation of short term rentals 10. Take any action necessary as a result of the Executive Session.
